CDP Theatre Producers is bringing Dog Man: The Musical in Australia, with Josh Whitten playing as Dog Man. Touring begins this June 23-25 in Brisbane, to be followed in Sydney and Perth in the following weeks. Reporter Sarah Hatoff has learned about the return of the Fleas. She calls in her information to the media, but a series of misunderstandings prompts a news story about “Twenty Thousand Fleas Under the Sea.” This prompts protests, and Piggy sets out to cause chaos as a way to distract everyone from the real problem – Piggy's villainy. Piggy manages to shrink the submarine and everyone on board. They wind up in a sweat gland on Piggy's nose where they have to work together to fight a mite that is much bigger than they. When they grow the submarine to a giant size, they inadvertently stop Piggy's villainous reign. On April 12, 2023, TheaterWorks USA is bringing Cat Kid Comic Club: The Musical to Broadway, premiering at The Lucille Lortel Theatre in New York City from July 21 to August 27, 2023. Alongside the announcement is the title reveal of the fifth Cat Kid Comic Club book, Cat Kid Comic Club: Influencers, releasing on November 28, 2023. As the novel comes to a close, everyone joins in to help Petey rebuild his lab. He discovers that he has friends willing to help despite his past mistakes. Petey has tried to make Li'l Petey and Molly understand the necessity of living life to the fullest, but they do not seem to get the message until Sarah says it. After all, it always sounds better the way Sarah says it. Wally’s World is just one of a number of special Pilkey moments this month leading up to the March 28 release of Twenty Thousand Fleas; the month started with a new edition of The Adventures of Captain Underpants— officially, the “25½ Anniversary Edition,” because timing — that features an all-new strip teaming Captain Underpants and Dog Man. (This strip will also appear in the Dog Man and the League of Misfits Free Comic Book Day release.)

Meanwhile, Petey is trying to get help to rebuild his lab at Donna’s Construction, but Li'l Petey and Molly turn up, asking “Wally” to read their comic.Robot Roz undertakes an unusual ocean journey to save her adopted island home in this third series entry. All this comes amidst a general slowdown for comics and graphic novel sales earlier this year. According to a February Bookscan report, found in Publishing Perspectives,although GN sales remain strong, they slowed down in the first six weeks of 2023, down 13% from 2022, with juvenile comics declining for the first time in more than a decade.

Piggy is enjoying freedom, but it is short lived as Crunky and Bub join him, singing the Friendly Friends theme song to the tune of Jingle Bells. Piggy silenced them, as they have found Dog Man, asleep under the tree with Chief and Nurse Lady. He whispers instructions to exact revenge, but Crunky never heard and yells, waking Dog Man who chases them. They fly into a sandwich shop called “The Beach” where Daryl and his Uncle Larry opened a headquarters, which Piggy will use for evil.The sub shrinks down to normal, Chief and Nurse Lady rejoin, everyone works the rest of the day to start restoration of Petey’s Lab. By night, everyone heads over to Dog Man’s house for supper. Petey still doesn’t know why everyone is helping him, a jailbird. Li’l Petey says it is why they are there to help each other. Sarah dips her feet in the water of the lake (which Petey presumably cleaned of pollution) and makes it an analogy about giving more in life. Sarah once again teaches the lesson better than Petey. The characters are seen walking home through the view of the lake.

Scholastic revealed the official cover of Cat Kid Comic Club: Influencers on June 14, 2023, and the announcement of Dog Man With Love: The Official Coloring Book, releasing on August 1, 2023. On the same day, TheaterWorks USA announced the Cast Members of Cat Kid Comic Club: The Musical, including Lora Rachel Davidson, Jamie LaVerdiere and Brian Owen of Dog Man: The Musical.
