A caramelised biscuit flavoured chocolate egg with honeycomb pieces and a bar to match. Our incredibly moreish Peanut Butter Milk Chocolate Mini Eggs will be a creamy treat for those who prefer milk chocolate, while we have dark chocolate fans covered with our Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Mini Eggs. There are 5 decadent truffle flavours available: Hazelnut Crunch, Fine De Champagne, Chocolate Orange, Honeycomb Caramel, and Chocolate Salted Caramel (this is the flavour that we tried).

But what I enjoyed the most about this (apart from the cute shape), was the addition of the cocoa nibs. The chocolate has a deeply satisfying snap when you break a piece off, and the taste is on the rich, earthy side of the flavour spectrum, with woody tobacco notes. It’s just bitter enough to know that it’s a good quality dark chocolate, but doesn’t dry out your mouth too much.

Is it Fairtrade? Many agricultural products are grown by overworked and underpaid workers. Lookfor Fairtrade to make sure that the person growing your chocolate is receives a fair wage and working conditions. As all the contents are made from either recycled board or home compostable film, this is certainly one treat you can give to the kids with a clear conscience.

The chocolate egg is made from dark chocolate, which is really rich in cocoa and leaves the comforting taste of sweet cocoa powder in your mouth. It’s the kind of flavour you get with a mug of really good dark hot chocolate. It’s an incredibly smooth milk chocolate that melts beautifully in your mouth. The first hit you get is definitely coconut, which gives way to leave a lingering taste of cacao. This is not the usual chocolate that’s reserved for kids. It’s really, really good. Our delicious vegan Easter eggs are sustainably made without dairy, lactose or palm oil. No matter what type of chocolate you prefer, we have the best vegan Easter eggs anywhere online! Using rice milk instead of milk and coconut oil instead of palm oil (which is environmentally unsustainable), we were able to produce a 24% dark chocolate bar that was so creamy and smooth that it’s almost impossible to believe that no cows were involved at any point in production.

Oops something went wrong!

H!P’s oat milk-based milk chocolate contains 41% cocoa so is richly flavoured and superbly smooth. The egg itself is generously studded throughout with pieces of pretzel that give it a wonderful crunchy texture. The addition of sea salt accentuates the flavours of the chocolate, enhancing the cocoa flavour beautifully. But the proof is in the pudding, and my pair of eggs survived the cross-country Royal Mail journey unscathed, looking just as good as they did when they popped out of the factory. Chocolate itself does not generally contain palm oil. However, fillings such as biscuit commonly do, so we rated all of the companies on their palm oil policies. Organic cocoa mass, organic cane sugar, organic cocoa butter, organic vanilla extract. Cocoa solids: 74% minimum. The chocolate best buy brands were the ones which stood out as being different. Divine is part-owned by Ghanaian cocoa farmers, Plamil is a vegan company, Chocolat Madagascar and Pacari are value added at source. (Chocolat Madagascar and Pacari do not make Easter eggs.)

The following brands get our best rating for palm oil for either being palm-oil free or using sustainable palm oil: Love Cocoa has sprinkled flakes of Maldon sea salt throughout which add a delightful crunchy element and really make the chocolate flavour pop. A true celebration of cocoa, this is dark chocolate at its very best. Choccy Eggsplosion egg. A dairy-free white and ‘milk’ chocolate egg with vegan marshmallows and chocolate chips in it! Commenting on the new products, Helen Pattinson, Montezuma’s co-founder said: “Easter is always such a lovely celebration especially for those of us in the chocolate world! We are very pleased with this year’s range which offers so many delicious and fun options and suits all of our customers – whether they are choosing a milk, white or dark treat or something more suited to a lifestyle choice or special diet. Our new giant bunnies look and taste amazing and I’m sure will be enjoyed by many of our customers – young and old!”Their travels took them through Argentina, Chile and Venezuela and they stumbled upon San Carlos de Bariloche, an entire town dedicated to chocolate.
